Overview
Northern Crops Marketing and Investments, Ltd. (NCMI) is a full service commodity brokerage firm located at 142 Christian Drive in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the heart of North America’s agriculture production area. We specialize in agricultural risk management and marketing strategies. We also trade through R. J. O’Brien & Associates, a StoneX company, our clearinghouse.
NCMI’s primary objective is to help clients spread, transfer, and limit risk. We utilize futures and options, along with cash contracts, to hedge. Basis, premiums, and discounts are also monitored closely. We have a variety of clientele across the United States and agri-business contacts worldwide.
Our goal is to combine our experience with the latest technology to provide quality, personal service. NCMI is committed to directly communicating with clients on a regular basis to establish and execute a marketing plan.
Meet Our Team
Brad Paulson has owned and operated his brokerage company, Northern Crops Marketing and Investments, Ltd., since 1996 and moved it to Grand Forks, North Dakota, in December of 2013. He has many years of proven leadership; prior to opening his own firm, Brad worked for Merrill Lynch and Smith Barney in Fargo, North Dakota. He has 39 years of experience as a licensed commodity broker and 47 years’ experience in futures trading. Brad has a degree in Farm Operations and Management and attended North Dakota State University in agricultural economics. Brad can be heard regionally on Wednesday afternoons on Red River Farm Network’s market closings radio program.
Brad’s roots are in Cavalier County, and he had been involved in agricultural production all of his life until retiring from farming in the fall of 2013. He and his wife Marcy reside in Grand Forks. Their daughter Marisa is in the Twin Cities area and is head of marketing for a national healthcare company. Brad and Marcy’s son Rob works as an engineer, also in the Twin Cities.
Marcy Paulson is the office operations manager and bookkeeper of Northern Crops Marketing and Investments, Ltd. She has 30 years of experience in this position. Marcy previously worked as a secondary teacher in mathematics and English. Marcy is contemplating studying for the Series 3 exam in order to become a licensed commodity broker.
